Information in English

Welcome to København Karateklub aka. Copenhagen Karate Club!

If you're visiting Copenhagen from abroad and want to train karate, København Karateklub (Copenhagen Karate Club) is the place for you. We combine focused traditional karate training and discipline with a welcoming atmosphere of friendliness and respect for every individual.

At København Karateklub we practice classical Okinawa Goju-Ryu karate. The training is conducted by our skilled and experienced instructors mainly in Danish with technical expressions in Japanese. However, it is always possible to get additional explanations in English.

As we have more than 300 members, the classes are divided into several different skill levels according to the practitioners' experience.

Our physical space, which is dedicated to karate only, comprises three fully equipped dojos with professional sports floors, mirrors and traditional Okinawan training equipment, changing rooms and shower facilities for men and women and a kitchen and café area with coffee tables, comfy sofas and a music system for socializing and the occasional party.

The club is a member the International Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate-Do Federation (IOGKF), headed by the renowned Sensei Morio Higaonna (10th dan), and therefore takes part in gasshuku (training events) organized in Denmark, Europe and Japan, with instruction conducted in English by some of the world's most senior karate masters.

Everybody is welcome to join us at København Karateklub regardless of age, gender and experience. The year is divided into two semesters: fall (from August till December) and spring (January till June). Beginners classes start both in August/September and January/February.

If you want to visit the club and try out karate before registering, you are welcome to take part in a couple of sessions for free. Come in time for the beginners training, in loose sports clothes and with bare feet. If you are a more experienced karate practitioner you can participate in a class suitable for your level. You will find the complete time table here.

Member registration is done on our registration page which is in Danish and may be a challenge for non-Danish speakers. But please don't hesitate to contact us using the contact menu. Choose "modtager" (receipient), "medlemskasserer" (the person in charge of memberships) or "generelle henvendelser" (general inquiries) and we will be happy to assist you.

The dojo's address is: Bernhard Bangs Alle 27, 1st floor, 2000 Frederiksberg (inside the parking lot, around the corner to the left). It's easily accessible, only 100 meters from the Lindevang Metro station. See map here.

We look forward to welcoming you at København Karateklub!
